UNMC has released its first comprehensive
AI Task Force Report
, outlining a strategic framework for responsibly embracing artificial intelligence across education, research, clinical care, business operations, and combating disinformation. Led by Emily Glenn and Rachel Lookadoo, the 65-member task force emphasizes both the transformative potential and the inherent risks of generative AI. The report recommends clear policies, sustained funding, cross-campus coordination, and a continued community of practice to guide AI integration at UNMC. Early priorities include preparing students and employees for AI-enhanced learning, developing a shared institutional philosophy, and mapping AI-related research. Adopted into UNMC’s strategic planning, the report positions the university as a national leader in health-focused AI innovation. Leadership work groups are now developing tactics to bring these goals to life — ensuring that as AI accelerates, UNMC remains ahead of the curve and grounded in its mission to improve lives through education, research, and care.
