Setting a New Standard in Cancer Care - Right Here in Omaha

For 13 years, Omaha’s Kathy Folk has faced non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with relentless courage. She’s been through remission, recurrence, stem cell transplants, and countless treatments - always backed by her “Team Green” of family, friends, and world-class doctors at Nebraska Medicine.

This year, Kathy made history. She became the first person in #Nebraska to receive CAR T-cell therapy - a groundbreaking, personalized cancer treatment - entirely as an outpatient at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.

Instead of weeks in a hospital bed, Kathy was able to go home each day, surrounded by loved ones. Her most recent scans? The best results she’s seen in more than a decade.

Kathy’s story is more than a personal victory. It’s a powerful example of the innovation happening every day at Nebraska Medicine. Located directly adjacent to the EDGE District Omaha, this level of clinical expertise is at the heart of why the district is becoming one of the Midwest’s most significant health sciences innovation hubs, where cutting-edge research, patient care, and industry collaboration meet.

👏 Congratulations to Kathy, Dr. Matthew Lunning, and the Nebraska Medicine team for leading the way in cancer innovation.
