Construction is accelerating on UNMC’s six-story CORE (Campus Operations and Research Excellence) Building at Saddle Creek Road and Farnam Street, with structural steel now going up and completion expected in late summer 2026. The facility will house both wet and dry labs supporting research in microbiology, physiology, genetics, and more, while also emphasizing sustainability and future flexibility in its design. As the anchor of the emerging Saddle Creek Campus and located near the soon-to-open Catalyst building, the CORE Building will play a vital role in advancing translational research and biotech innovation. Plans also include a future pedestrian bridge to UNMC’s main campus and a new adjacent parking garage funded by the City of Omaha.
