EDGE District is new name of UNMC Saddle Creek development

UNMC has officially unveiled the name and vision for its emerging innovation district: the EDGE District — short for Explore, Develop, Grow, Engage. Located just west of UNMC’s main campus, the EDGE District will serve as a vibrant hub for health-focused research, entrepreneurship, and commercialization, while also offering spaces to live, work, and play. Anchored by key projects like the Catalyst building (home to the UNMC Innovation Hub, a food hall, and office space), the CORE research facility , and a planned city-owned parking garage with potential for mixed-use amenities , the district is designed to drive economic development and global impact. With a mission-aligned yet independent identity, the EDGE District will cultivate collaboration among startups, corporate partners, researchers, and the community — ensuring Nebraska remains competitive in a rapidly evolving healthcare and innovation landscape. The newly launched website and logo celebrate the district’s inclusive, future-facing identity and its role in shaping Omaha’s next chapter.
