Innovation districts serve as powerful bridges between research and the marketplace. At the EDGE District, we partner with UNeMed - the technology transfer and commercialization hub for UNMC and UNO - to help transform groundbreaking discoveries into real-world solutions.

Through UNeMed, startups and researchers gain support with:

• Patenting & Licensing – protecting and scaling intellectual property
• Commercialization Services – bringing products, drugs, therapies, and devices to market
• Entrepreneurial Resources – including Maturation Grants, Drug Discovery Funding, Venture Challenges, Internships, Accelerator programs, and Startup-Friendly Licensing

These programs ensure innovators have the tools to move ideas from the lab to industry—bridging the gap between academia and commercial success.

UNeMed’s efforts have already sparked the creation of dozens of startups by UNMC and UNO faculty, staff, and students. These ventures contribute to new therapeutics, diagnostics, talent retention, and economic growth across Nebraska.
